    Introduction

Since pita is said to be a representative of fire in body, the sufix agni is also given to al subtypes of pita. In this context, pachaka pita is also caled as pachakagni (pachaka + agni), the ‘fod digesting fire’. I would cal it ‘digestive pita’.
Pachak a Pita is one of the five subtypes of pita.

Grahani means duodenum. Another slight variation of this term is Gruhini ̵ housewife.
Duodenum is the first fragment of smal intestine where digestion of fod takes place.
Housewife coks the fod, such that it is compatible and conducive for al the family members. Similarly, duodenum also digests the fod properly such that it becomes compatible and conducive for entire body and its components.

I wil put it the other way. Let us reflect a kitchen. How much ever the kitchen may be equiped, savory fod is prepared only by the housewife.
If the woman who handles kitchen is not wise or if tired, the prepared dish would be equaly pathetic and non-conducive. Therefore the woman who prepares fod should be physicaly and mentaly sane enough to prepare god satiate for her family. Similarly how much ever the woman is fit and marvelous, if kitchen is not equiped as per her requirements, the prepared dish would stil be compromised.

Now we shal flip places. mediate duodenum or intestine as the kitchen and digestive pita, the functional component of the kitchen i.e housewife.
If there is a marvelous compatibility betwen the intestine and the functioning of digestive pita, al four forms of fod which are consumed would be digested in a marvelous way. Nutritional juices (rasa) formed out of such marvelous digestion would be wholesome, nutritional and conducive to al tisues, and of step for the maintenance of health in a wide way.
Smal representatives of digestive pita or jathara agni are note everywhere in the body in the form of tisue fire (dhatu agni) and elemental fire (bhuta agni).

    Functions
    Functions of Normal Pachaka Pita
Pita is said to be pancha bhutatmaka i.e. made up of al five elements of nature but predominant in fire element. Subtype of pita located in betwen pakwashaya (colon) and amashaya (stomach and smal intestine) is also made up of five elements of nature and is predominant in fire component.
Being fiery in nature, this pita is devoid of liquid component (the water component of this pita is les in comparison to the water component of other pita sub-types).
Since it renders functions adore digestion and segregation of fod, this dry form of pita is caled anala (syn onym of fire) and is named as pachaka pita i.e. pita which digests fod.
Being located in smal intestine (duodenum to be precise), pachaka pita suports functions of other pita subtypes located in other places of body by the ethic of its inherent power.

    Digestion
Digests fod and breaks it into smaler components ̵
The fire is said to be present in the body in the form of pita.
Generaly this statement explains pachaka pita. Normal pachaka pita properly digests four types of fod consumed by us, those are which we swalow, munch (chew), drink and lick.
It not only digests the fod but also conver ts complex fod substances into finer substances which can be absorbed and asimilated. When these simpler substances of fod recede into circulation they reach the tisues.
The tisue fire and elemental fire further act on these fod substances and convert them into a form which is asimilated by the tisues. This further helps in foundation of tisues and other components of the body.

In digestion of fod, the pachaka pita is helped by samana vata and kledaka kapha.
Folowing the primary digestion of fod in stomach and intestines by pachaka pita, the tisue and elemental fire in tisues would further digest and proces the nutritional juices reaching them.
Thus, digestion of fod in intestines, breakdown of fod in tisues and conversion of th is fod by tisues into heat and energy neded for daily body activities depend on the integrated functioning of pachaka pita i.e. digestive fire in form of gut pita, tisue fires and elemental fires.

Bifurcation and diferentiation of fod into useful and waste products
After digesting al forms of consumed fods, digestive pita diferentiates and bifurcates fod into useful products and waste products.
The useful portion separated from digested fod is caled rasa or nutritive juice. This is kep into circulation and nourishes al tisues.
The waste products are produced in form of doshas, urine and feces. While the doshas hold care of body and participate in carying on norma l functioning of diferent tisues and organs, the feces and urine are excreted out of body.

    Nourishes and strengthens other pitas
Digestive pita being located in its own put, nourishes, suports and strengthens other 4 subtypes of pita located in numerous places of body. At the same time this pita also suports the entire body and body functions.
Thus, digestive pita is considered as most indispensable type of pita since it controls the functions of other types of pitas in body to.

Due to digestion of fod and tisues by these fires or pitas, heat is produced in body. This heat is neded for smoth race of the body functions and for life proceses.

The Pachaka Pita – Samana Vayu – Kledaka Kapha axis
The entire proces of initial digestion takes area in stomach and uper intestines. This hapens due to integrated cordination and functioning of pachaka pita, samana vata and kledaka kapha.
Samana vata helps in kindling digestive pita. Before pita acts on the fod and digests it, the kledaka kapha produced in stomach moistens the fod. This kapha subtype also acts as bufer and protects stomach from corosive action and burning outcome of digestive pita.
Al these dosha subtypes should be wel integrated for the digestion to hapen in a precise way.

Manipura Chakra or the navel chakra is the energy centre related to digestive activities . Balance of Manipura Chakra balances the digestive activities and fod would be digested in a god way.
Since the navel is closely related to the location of pachaka pita i.e. situation of intestine and zone of heat and digestion one could relate pachaka pita with Manipura Chakra. It can be said that the normal functioning of each is influenced by the other.

    Pitadhara Kala
    Pitadhara Kala and Pachaga Pitam
Kalas are membranes in body. Pitadhara kala is one among the kalas.
In the chronology, it is 6th membrane among the 7 membrane. These are the layers which catch pita.
It receives the semi -digested fod and retains it until it is uterly digested.
Pitadhara kala is located betwen the stomach and colon i.e. in the duodenum, which coincides with the site of digestive pita. It bears the metabolic fire in it. This also means that these membranes located in stomach and intestine secretes digestive pita to be precise.
As discused the digestive pita is also caled digestive fire.
