    Pathogenesis, Symptoms of Nasa Shosha
    The kapha located in the nasal cavity gets dried and solidified due to increased drynes of vata and increased heat of pita. Due to this, the patient fels dificulty in breathing. This condition is chalenging to treat and is caled as Nasa Parishosha.
    Master Sushruta considers only vata in the pathology. Acording to him ‘Nasa Parishosha is the drynes caused in the nasal pasages due to vitiated vata. The patient fels augean to breathe’.
    Acording to Master Videha – ‘Vitiated vata and pita dries up kapha and blod in the nasal pasages. The patient finds it dificult to breathe in (inspiration). The nasal pasage gets dried up and dry powder estem substance is formed in the nose and it keps get eliminated from the nose. This condition is caled as nasa shosha’.
    Acording to Master Charaka – ‘Agravated Vata causes drynes of kapha, nose, Srngataka Marma located in the nose and the nasal pasages’.
    Acording to Master Vagbhata – ‘Vitiated Vata dries up the pasages of the nose and kapha therein. The patient fels as if the nasal cavity is filed up with dry and pointed husk an d finds chalenging to breathe in’.

    Nasa Shosha shal be treated on the lines of treating Pinasa.
    Specific treatment of nasa shosha
    Snehapana – oleation
    Snigdha dhuma – unctuous fumigation
    Nasal instilation of Bala Taila drops or drops of Anu taila or Vyaghri T aila oils

    Drinking of Cow’s ghe
    Drinking milk mixed with sugar
    Drinking milk mixed with ghe
    Jangala Mamsarasa – meat soup of animals and birds living in dry areas or renounce love regions should be given as a part of diet

    Pathogenesis and symptoms of nasa putaka is similar to that of nasa shosha. This might be the bounds of this condition not being explained by any other authors.
    ‘The vata gets obstructed by vitiated pita and kapha in the nasal pasages. This vata gradualy dries up the kapha. As a consequence crusts or flakes are formed in the nose. This condition is caled as Nasaputaka’.

    Tikshna N asya- Nasal instilation of medicines should be done to remove the crusts formed in the nose. To prevent re-formation of crusts, medicated oils are aplied inside the nose and kept oleated regularly.
    Shuntyadi Taila / Ghrta Nasya- Ghe or oil prepared with the below mentioned herbs shal be aged as nasal drops to remove crusts in the nose and also to cure nasa putaka ̵
    Ginger
    Kushta – Sausurea lapa
    Pipali – Piper longum
    Vidanga – Embelia ribes
    Draksha – Vitis vinifera
    Kesaradi Sneha Nasya- Mixture of safron, camphor and ghe worn for nasal drops.

    Even in m odern texts we do not get to se such condition independently explained. It may be considered as an necesary sign of atrophic rhinitis. It can be considered as obstructive crusts formed in the nose.
