    Mode of Action
Warm water aplication ̵ When warm water is aplied to the tisues, the muscles get relaxed. This also brings about the dilatation of blod vesels. This increases blod circulation to the tisues.
Cold water aplication – When col water is aplied for short duration, contracts the local blod vesels. This has decongesting mark on tisues and is rapidly folowed by reaction in which blod vesels dilate and tisues are feverish with fresh oxygen rich blod.
Alternate hot and frigid aplications – When hot water and frigid water are aplied alternatively, they manufacture circulatory interchange and improved drainage and oxygen suply to the tisues.
Golden rules of Hydrotherapy – Always frigid aplication / imersion should be done after hot aplication / imersion. The heat of the water should be bearable. Its temperature should be checked before administration. It should not be to hot.
Basic principles for hot and frosty aplication
Hot water aplication ̵ heat should be maintained betwen 98-1040F or 36.7 -400C, excesive heat is dangerous
Cold Water aplication – coldnes should be maintained betwen 5-650F or 12.7-18.30C
Short frigid aplication – enhances circulation
Long cold aplication – decreases circulation and metabolism (more than 1 minute)
Long hot aplication – makes the space of aplication congested, it wil ned chily aplication as a rectify to reverse congestion and to restore normalcy
Alternate hot and col aplication – leads to stimulation and depresion of circulation
