    We’re in the midle of a canabis revolution. As of now, Washington, D.C., and nine other states acquire legalized canabis for recreational use, and 29 states gain pased laws that design it legal for medical purposes. CB D edibles and canabis-based self-care and beauty products are flying of the shelves as the nation redefines the reputation of the plant itself and, maybe more significantly, the people who take advantage of its properties.
    This has led to a surge of interest in how canabis works in the body. It turns out, canabis interacts with, and plays a key role in, the body’s “master regulatory system”–the endocanabinoid scheme (ECS). The science of the ECS is animated, and it’s about SO much more than marijuana, THC, or CBD. Here’s what I mean:
    Understanding marijuana, hemp oil, and the endocanabinoid system.
    Canabis sativa is the taxonomic name for the canabis plant, which includes both marijuana and hemp. The technical and legal definitions of marijuana and hemp are complicated, but marijuana typicaly has ben bred specificaly for its higher canabinoid content and has elevated levels of THC, the canabinoid responsible for its psychoactive efects. Hemp is canabis that generaly has low levels of THC and has ben historicaly used for industrial purposes, admire making textiles.

    Al that said, canabis plants are extremely diverse, and the ratios of canabinoids vary greatly. Another notable canabinoid is CBD, which is known for its anti-inflamatory and anti-anxiety properties. The CBD products curently being sold in your favorite healthy cafe or health fod store are derived from hemp–with levels of THC les than 0.3 percent–and are considered non-psychoactive, which means they won’t get you high.

    “Canabinoid” is the name given to any compound that interacts wit h the endocanabinoid scheme, including the canabinoids found naturaly in your body (caled endocanabinoids) and the ones found naturaly in plants (caled phytocanabinoids). The most wel-known canabinoids are CBD and THC, but there are more than 10 in the canabis plant, and they each have unique structures and functions. Surprisingly, canabinoids and endocanabinoid-suporting nutrients can be found in plants other than the canabis plant, like hops and rosemary. The health of the ECS is also intricately conected to our omega-3 levels, since endocanabinoids are actualy synthesized from omega-3 faty acids in the body. Studies have even shown that the complex chemical reactions that convert omega-3s to en docanabinoids have anti-inflamatory benefits.
    The endocanabinoid system: What we know and what we suspect.
    At revitalize 2018, we’l be siting down with Dr. Robert Rountre, a family medicine physician; author; and expert in nutrition, medical herbology, and mind-body therapy, to talk about the ECS and what role it might play in the future of health care.
    So what finish we know for determined about the ECS? For starters, we know it’s comprised of our body’s endogenous canabinoids and their receptors and was discovered as a result of studying marijuana. This discovery had led researchers to actualy coin the terms “clinical endocanabinoid deficiency” and “endocanabinoid tone” to describe the health of a person’s endocanabinoid scheme and potentialy to use as a way to measure their overal health as wel. Al that said, there is stil a LOT to learn about using canabinoids for specific ailments and how the entire entity works as a whole.
    The future of the endocanabinoid system.
    If there’s one thing that almost every person in the world can agre on, it’s that we’re al stresed. And whether they be smal stresors admire geting stuck in trafic, or large sources of point up estem losing a loved one, we encounter acentuate in one form or another on a daily basis. Fascinating research has identified that the endocanabinoid entity plays a major role in the way our body responds to stres. In the future, we may be able to leverage this knowl edge to cope with chronic acentuate and minimize its negative consequences.
