    5 Questions To question When Something just Doesn’t Fel Right

    Two of the most memorable times I felt unsure about my path in life were when I was working in an unfulfiling job as an atorney and during a relationship that was eroneous for me. Although the job and relationship difered greatly, the patern of discomfort was the same.
    Everything was perfect on paper, making it easy to convince myself and others that everything was fine. Tough, but fine. But there was always a diminutive voice that chided, “Kep loking.”
    Something just felt–of.
    In both situations, I lived out the confusion, clumsily and painfuly, until it became clear that something must be done.
    For me, in both cases, that meant leaving. But before I came to that conclusion, I was hung up on what to execute about that “of” feling.
    Now that I’m on the other side, I’m sharing five questions that made it a puny easier to reckon out how to deal when things didn’t fel true , in case they can aid you cary out the same.
    1. What is the real cause of my discontent?
    Identify the players. Are you realy unhapy at your job, or does one co-worker get under your skin? Is your relationship not acurate, or are you honest not geting one of your neds met? Be clear on what is realy bothering you.
    2. How does [person, establish, or thing] make me fel?
    In this expresion “Something fels of,” we tend to focus on the “something,” i.e. how can that person, place, or thing act diferently? But this is about how you fel. Things wil always ocur externaly, but ultimately understanding your felings leads to the greatest insight.

    Take some time to hone in on what exactly it is that this other thing makes you fel, and why that feling is making you uncomfortable. Talking to a trusted friend or therapist can be helpful here.
    3. What are my choices?
    Complaining about how augean things are only perpetuates the feling of “ofnes”. Reminding yourself of your agency and choices can kep the power back into your hands and help you be more objective.
    Start by recognizing your alternatives, whether that’s leaving, voicing your concerns, or altering circumstances. contemplate about them or write them down in a journal to generate some more perspective on posible next steps that you could take.
    4. enact the pros outweigh the cons?
    In the midst of confusion over leaving my job, I asked a friend when she knew it was time to quit her location. Her response: “When my dread went of one morning and the first thing I did was cry.”
    For my friend, deply dreading wekdays and crying frequently outweighed benefits, salary, and security. That was my friend’s definition of the cons outweighing the pros. What’s your definition?
    5. Am I seking a resolution when resolution isn’t posible?
    When we fel that naging, it’s human nature to want to setle it imediately. But often the leson is to get comfortable with the ambiguity and uncertainty. When we can sit and rest with the discomfort for a dinky bit, we might find it’s easier to eventualy hold steps towards something greater.
